Microsoft Outlook Version for Data Source Crawls
Data loading requires Microsoft Outlook on crawler servers.
This can be Microsoft Outlook 32-bit (default) or, for file share crawls, 64-bit.
We recommend to use Microsoft Outlook 64-bit for file share crawls, as Microsoft Outlook 64-bit is not limited to 2 GB memory like the 32-bit version, but just to server memory. This makes crawls faster and reduces the risk of running out of memory when you load large files in parallel.
If you use Microsoft Outlook 64-bit on a crawler server, configure the data sources to use Java 64-bit runtime environment, that is, select OS64 as Java Process Architecture.
Tip: You can change the Outlook version and the Java Process Architecture setting in existing projects, without affecting data loading results. Just make sure that no data source is running.
Cases where Microsoft Outlook 32-bit is still required
- If you use the Aid4Mail parser, Microsoft Outlook 32-bit is needed.
Java Process Architecture
Defines whether the data source will be started using a 32-bit (OS32) or 64-bit (OS64) Java Runtime Environment. Make sure that the Microsoft Outlook version installed on the crawler server matches the Java version..
