Field Mapping

To extract information from a load file, you need to map load file fields and CORE fields.

In the Create New Data Source Wizard, you can map all CSV fields. There are several wizard steps that propose field names for mapping. If similar field names exist in the load file and in the document model, they are automatically detected and suggested for mapping.

If there is no suitable document model field for one of the load file fields, you can specify a name for a new field, called a temporary field, in the wizard. Before you start the crawl, you must create new fields for the temporary fields you specified in the wizard.

Some field names shown in the wizard steps do not represent existing fields, e.g., fields for Bates numbers, that can be used to identify attachments during CSV load. The field names (e.g. begbates) are shown because they refer to fields of the Concordance format that is a common format for third party productions. These field names are treated as temporary fields.

When creating new fields for temporary fields, it is recommended to use the CSV field name specified in the Create New Data Source Wizard. But you can also create a field with a different name and map this field in the data source configuration.

Before you start the first data source crawl, you can modify the field mapping in the data source configuration.
