External Bates Numbers
External productions that you created with another system or that you received from third party can be ingested and produced using these productions' Bates numbers.
External Bates numbers can be assigned to documents processed with Axcelerate 5.
Axcelerate 5 can detect prefix, number and suffix of a Bates number, which allows you to produce the relevant documents, like documents that use Axcelerate 5 Bates numbers.
You can even use the external Bates prefix for consistent, continued numbering of additional documents that do not have an external Bates number, but that you add to the same production. You just need to make sure that all documents with external Bates numbers come first in the production.
In the Axcelerate 5 user interface, you can search and sort external Bates numbers with special Smart Filters and Results list columns, so there is no risk to confound external and Axcelerate 5 Bates numbers. Separate handling of external and Axcelerate 5 Bates numbers also allows you to decide whether you want to produce with external Bates numbers or with Axcelerate 5 Bates numbers.
When producing, the system checks inconsistent Bates numbering, e.g., it does not allow you to use the same external Bates number twice. It also validates the expected number of produced pages against the End Bates number imported from the external production.

Starting with Axcelerate 5.12, administrators can configure data ingestion via CSV load in a way that external Bates numbers can be used for Axcelerate 5 productions. Of course, this requires that documents are newly ingested.
For documents in updated projects, administrators can import external Bates numbers directly into the published matter, using CSV merge.
