Search Query Editor

The Search Query Editor (SQE) is used to manage and analyze search queries that are too large to manage in the Keyword Search.

The Search Query Editor allows you to:

  • Create complex textual queries.
  • Detect invalid query syntax.
  • For a complete query and its sub queries, examine the number of responsive documents, the number of responsive documents including families, the total size of the document result set in Mb.
  • Create a report with the counts for a query and its sub queries.

The sub queries are automatically combined with the OR operator.

Search via the Search Query Editor takes into account an existing search. For example, if before using the editor you have applied the Language Smart Filter to search for documents in English, then the search run from the editor is applied on the document set whose language is English. The document result counts provided by the Search Query Editor are true for this particular document set only.

When a query is executed from the Search Query Editor, the search criteria are added as a Search Query Editor item to the Current Criteria panel.

When you run a search using the Search Query Editor and then close it, if you reopen the editor it will still contain the last query.

The Search Query Editor supports all CORE search features.

The Search Query Editor has these views:

  • the count view
  • the text view

Tip: You can switch between these views without losing any query information.
