What are Associated Documents?

Associated documents are documents related by content or documents that are part of the same communication, that is, families, threads, duplicates, near duplicates, or custom associations.

Each associated document type is represented by an icon.

Document is part of a family, that is, a parent, an attachment or embedding. Where possible, the position of a document inside the family is shown by the icons below.
Document is a parent, that is, it has attachments or embeddings.
Document is an attachment or embedding.
Document is an attachment or embedding and has attachments or embeddings.
Document is part of an email or chat thread, identified through either content analysis or header analysis.
Document has duplicates, identified using MD5 hash analysis (Message Digest algorithm 5).
Document has near duplicates, that is, documents identified by algorithm as differing slightly in content, such as different formatting, numbers, typos, or small variances in text.
Document has a custom association.

The CORE system detects families during data loading. Duplicates, near duplicates and threads are detected during publishing.
