Create a Sample
You create samples on the Analysis page, based on the current criteria, or on a selected document set.
Note: If you are manually selecting documents, select at least 50 documents.
- On the
Analysis page, run a search for those
documents from which the sample shall be created.
You can also use the complete Results list.
- From the menu of the right-hand pane, select Review Workflow.
- Under the universe name, click
Samples.
The Results list is filtered to show only documents of the respective universe.
- Update the settings on the Sample fly-in:
- Defines the document population from which the sample is created.
-
- All Results within Universe
- The system randomly adds a number of documents to the sample. If no search was run before sample creation, all universe documents are the population.
-
- Selected Results within Universe
- The documents selected in the Results list are the population. The system randomly adds a part of the selected documents to the sample.
- This defines the mode of sample creation.
- Simple mode lets you configure only the number or percentage of sample documents and automatically calculates the estimation interval. It has a fixed confidence threshold of 95% and supports only one-sided hypothesis test.
- Advanced mode lest you configure all sampling parameters. It supports one-sided and two-sided hypothesis test.
- This percentage is randomly selected from the population specified in the All results/Selected results field. The content of the Random results field is automatically adapted.
- This is the number of documents that shall be included in the sample.
- You can specify this number manually. The content of the % of results field is automatically adapted.
- If you specify other sampling parameters, this number can be changed automatically.
- The Estimation Interval is automatically filled when you enter the Random results or % of results parameters; it depends on the random results and on the confidence threshold.
- Select one of these values:
- 80
- 90
- 95
- 99
- 99.9
- Select whether you want to use the one-sided or the two-sided hypothesis test.
- Click Add Sample.

The sample is shown on the Review Workflows page, in the Scope and Samples node of the respective universe.
