Create a New Universe
If the All Documents universe does not meet your needs, you can create a new universe. This can be done at any time, even if the documents currently loaded to the matter do not meet the defined universe scope; this allows you to prepare ahead for incoming data.
Important: If new data is loaded to the matter after a universe is created, you must manually update the scope of the universe to add new documents that meet the scope criteria.
To create a universe:
- Create a query on the Analysis page that returns all of the documents to be added to the new universe. Be sure to add a family expansion to the final query results if the review team will review full families.
- Switch the Tagging panel to the Review Workflow panel.
- In the panel toolbar, select Add Universe.
Important: Working within a universe means that any associated documents that do not match the universe search criteria are ignored for the review process. They are also ignored for batch creation, even if the expansion by associated documents is configured for a batch. If associations, like family expansion, are important, this must be reflected by the search queries used for creating or enlarging the universe.
- Give the universe a descriptive name and optional detailed description. The query used to create the universe is stored, so the description does not need to capture query parameters exhaustively.
- Click the Add Universe button and universe creation begins.
- Once created, the new universe becomes available in the
Review Workflows panel on the Analysis page.
- The universe name is added as a value to the Review Workflows Smart Filter. You can use this to filter to just those documents contained in the universe.
- The universe becomes available on the page. You can use the universe menu to select the new universe and view its associated metrics.
- A new
Scope line is added to the Mission Control > Review Workflows > Scope and Samples drill-in page for the universe.
- The query used to create the universe is saved on the page.
