Email and Chat Threads
Threads are running communications. These communications may be
- emails with succeeding replies or forwards.
- chats or parts of chats taking place in the same chat room.
Axcelerate 5 provides different types of thread detection:
- Thread Detection by Content Analysis
- Detects email threads based on content, subject and sent dates. This thread detection type allows you to identify End of Branch emails, i.e., emails that contain the content of all preceding emails and that may be used to shorten the review process.
- Thread Detection by Header Analysis
- Detects email and also chat threads based on metadata IDs.
This depends on the email format. For example, there are Microsoft Outlook email formats for which both detection types work, and others that can only be analyzed by content.
There are multiple email formats for which only thread detection by header analysis works, as this type of detection is based on a commonly used standard for Internet messages.
Each type has its Pros and Cons.
-
For end of branch emails, you have to look at the results of thread detection by content analysis. Only those can guarantee that the complete content of all preceding emails is contained in the last email.
- Thread detection by header analysis may find more related emails and cover other email formats, provided they follow a commonly used standard. However, have in mind that there is no content check, and that reviewers should have a look at each email in the thread.
- If you want to look at chat threads: These can only be provided though thread detection by header analysis.
