Exclusionary Searches
Exclusionary searches are a means to make sure that documents matching certain criteria are never produced, even if they are queued by mistake.
Each time you add exclusionary searches to the production workflow, a new node is created under Exclusionary Searches. The icon in the TYPE column shows the type of exclusion. Currently, only one type exists: Excluding selected documents from the preview mode of the Inclusionary Searches.
Documents added with multiple searches are only counted once for the total numbers. Therefore, the number for the Exclusionary Searches parent set might be smaller than the sum of the numbers of the sets below it.
Exclude a fixed set of documents
This type of exclusion prevents a fixed set of documents from being produced.
To create the set of document to exclude, open the preview mode for the inclusionary searches. Use the search and filter features to reduce the results list as required. Optionally, select individual documents from the results list activating their check boxes.
The Production Workflow panel provides these options for document exclusion:
- Scope
- Either select Search to exclude the complete results list that is currently shown; or select Selected Results to only exclude the selected documents. The latter option is only available if documents are selected.
- Actions
- If multiple options are available, select Exclude from Production to create exclusionary searches.
- Exclude from Production
- You can optionally add this exclusionary search to all existing production workflows.
Note: This will not create exclusionary searches in future production workflows.
- Name and Description
- The system provides a default name, created from the production workflow name, the infix -exc- and a counter. You can provide a custom name instead.
- In the Description area you can optionally enter detail information about the exclusionary search.
- Click Apply to create the exclusionary search with the selected parameters.
