Safety Net for Redactions
There are two levels that make sure that redacted content is not produced: The Include redactions option for the production workflow, and the Redactions rule.
Level 1: Redacted documents are never produced without redactions.
The Include redactions option in the production workflow configuration is active by default. It ensures that the system never produces unredacted content for redacted documents, no matter which production rule is applied.
If this level is active,
- any image output for redacted documents will contain redactions.
- the production text will not contain text matching the redacted content. Redacted content will be removed from production text files.
- a native file output is not possible for redacted documents.
If the Include redactions option is not active, documents containing redactions will be produced without redactions, no matter which production rule applies.
Level 2: With the Redactions rule active, families with at least one redacted member document are never produced as native files.
If the production workflow is configured to include redactions, it is strongly recommended to use the default Redactions rule, too.
This rule not only searches for redacted documents, but also for all members of their families and makes sure that none of them is produced as native file. This is especially important for emails and their attachments.
Caution: If the Redactions rule is not active, the other production rules are applied in the order configured. This may result in a production with native output for documents with redacted attachments.
