Batch Creation Options

You can use any or all of these options to create review batches in a matter. Click a related topic link for specific batch creation instructions.

Ad Hoc Batching
Use ad hoc batching to quickly batch documents from the All Documents universe. No initial setup is required as you can configure all necessary batch settings on-the-fly.

Create Batches Using Ad Hoc Batching

Full Batching
Standard: Standard full batching batches documents from any universe immediately; however, a Case Manager must first add a review workflow to the universe.
Scheduled: Scheduled full batching is the same as standard full batching, except you set a daily or weekly schedule and a minimum new results requirement. At the scheduled time, the system automatically reruns the saved search set criteria across the universe and batches new documents if the minimum number of documents are found. This batching method is useful when new data continues to be added to a matter over time, and the saved criteria used to identify documents for review is relevant for the new data.

Manual Batching
Manual batching is the same as full batching; however, you do not batch the documents immediately. Instead, the document set is saved and a Case Manager can manually batch the set at a later time. This method is useful when you want to save a document set, but hold off on batch creation so reviewers can focus on higher priority data sets.

Incremental Batching
Incremental batching allows you to limit the number of documents that are batched from a search set, so the entire set is not batched immediately. You can then assess review results or check the quality of a review, to make an informed decision on whether to batch additional documents from the set.

Adaptive Batching
Adaptive batching is an automatic, scheduled, quality-based way of applying incremental batching.  An initial set of documents is randomly drawn from a saved search set, batched and then reviewed. The confirmation rate of the reviewed documents determines whether new batches are created from the set or if batching of the set is stopped.  This method of batching can help you evaluate the effectiveness of a prioritization strategy before allotting additional reviewer resources.

Adaptive Batching

Note: If you inadvertently batch documents with the wrong settings, ask a Case Manager to delete the incorrect batches and then rebatch the documents with the correct settings.
